Biodynamic Mungalli Milk Teahouse

Another of the Atherton Tableland’s places to visit is the biodynamic Mungalli Creek Dairy, ‘Out of the Whey Cheesery and Teahouse’. It’s locally owned and has received numerous national awards and accolades for their fine biodynamic foods.

I enjoyed tasting the cheese, yoghurt and dip samples. This helped me decide what to chose from the menu.  The ploughman’s lunch had a collection of their biodynamic cheese, eggs and dip with fresh garden produce. And the fish pot pie had a garden salad. While sitting on the verandah we had a view of green rolling hills and rainforests of the Atherton Tablelands.

The homemade desserts and cheesecakes were very enticing. All made with their biodynamic milk. But after working my way through my platter for one, I couldn’t squeeze anything else in. Looks like I’ll need to come back another time for those.

They also support the local artists and manufacturers of various products in their spacious display area. Also dotted around the old Queenslander were artefacts relating to the early dairying era including old lamps, butter churns, stove, weighing scales and photos.

Also when you step up to the viewing area you can see the stainless vats and workers in the processing plant.

I like to support the locally owned and run dairying enterprise which employs locals and farmers for their specific quality milk. Their milk and yoghurt products are very popular. Their prices reflect what it costs to make their dairying business viable.

They also have a Facebook site which shows some of their baby chickens — very cute.

  1. What an amazing array of good food outlets and places you have on these Atherton Tablelands. Such richness the rest of Australia need to get to visit and experience. Thank you for sharing the wonderful place you call home. Denyse #teamIBOT

  2. It looks all delicious! Why did I read this at lunch time?! I’d love to get back up North sometime with my kids. My husband and I went to Cairns before we had kids. I’d definitely visit here if we came again. 🙂
